Enquiry on Results
If you believe that Cambridge English has awarded an incorrect result for your Linguaskill test you can request an Enquiry on Results. You should raise any concerns about your Linguaskill result with your Linguaskill centre as soon as possible.
An Enquiry on Result can be submitted for the following Linguaskill modules:
Module | Enquiry on Results available |
Reading* | No |
Listening* | No |
Speaking | Yes |
Writing | Yes |
* Due to the adaptive nature of the Linguaskill Reading and Listening tests and the way they are marked, we do not offer an Enquiry on Results for these tests.
There is a fee for the Enquiry of Results service and your centre should discuss this with you. The request form should be submitted by your test centre on your behalf no later than 28 days after you took the test.
It is possible for your result to go up, down or remain the same following an Enquiry on Results.
An Enquiry on Results received by Cambridge will be processed, and a response provided to your Linguaskill centre, within 21 calendar days. Please note that this does not include UK public holidays.
If an Enquiry on Results is upheld and leads to your CEFR level moving up OR down, Cambridge will refund the fee which your centre will return to you.
Appeals
You can appeal against decisions relating to your Linguaskill results, for example:
- the outcome of an Enquiry on Results
- the outcome of a malpractice investigation (disqualification of results)
The Appeal process is not concerned with making judgements about your work in the test, and an Appeal will not normally involve re-marking or reassessment of your work.
We will not disclose details of our malpractice investigation during the Appeals process. Results decisions are made using the evidence available and are based on levels of confidence in the result and/or in compliance with regulations. It is not about proving malpractice has happened – rather it is about ensuring that only results we are confident in are released.
If you wish to request an Appeal you should contact your centre as soon as possible. You centre will need to submit the request form on your behalf no later than 21 days from the outcome of an Enquiry of Results or a decision on malpractice.
Your centre will discuss with you what the Appeal process involves, the fees and timeline.
