This article provides details of the release of results for Linguaskill and result classifications.
Candidates are able to view, download and share their results via the Cambridge English Test Portal, Metrica.
Test results are typically released within the following timeframes:
- In-centre tests: Results are generally available 3–5 days after the test date.
- Remote tests: Results are generally available 6–8 days after the test date.
Please note that candidates who are part of a large testing session will receive their results according to the timeline outlined in the guidance for large sessions. Centres should refer to the relevant support article for further information.
In some cases, a test may be flagged with an Amber or Red status as part of the quality assurance process. When this occurs, the result may be subject to a review and can take up to 10 additional days to be released.
It is recommended that candidates check their Metrica account regularly as results can often be released ahead of schedule. Although we make every effort to ensure that results are issued promptly, in certain circumstances, such as a malpractice investigation or a technical issue, results may be issued later, are withheld or we are unable to provide an assessment of the responses.
We reserve the right to amend results. We may also withdraw results in instances of malpractice. Linguaskill result classifications Linguaskill results are shown with a Cambridge English Scale score and a Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) Level for each skill tested. The CEFR is the international benchmark for describing language ability and means that Linguaskill results can be compared to international standards.
An average Cambridge English Scale score and associated CEFR level will be provided. There is also an explanation of what each score means in terms of English language ability so candidates are able to see where they have performed well, and where they may need to improve.
| Cambridge English Scale Score | CEFR Level |
| 200 - 210 | C2 |
| 180 - 199 | C1 |
| 160 - 179 | B2 |
| 140 - 159 | B1 |
| Scores below 140 | Below B1* |
* If the result is Below B1 on the CEFR, it will appear as "Below B1" on the candidate's results screen on the Cambridge English Test Portal, Metrica. Please note though that Below B1 will not appear on the certificate. It will appear on the Detailed Group Report for Linguaskill centres as the grade 'Below B1' but will have no score present.
Other Result classifications
| Pending |
The candidate result is awaiting completion of the attendance register, awaiting marking or is under investigation. If a candidate is under investigation they will receive notification of the outcome within 14 calendar days. |
| Disqualified | The candidate has been disqualified for this module. |
| *Asterisk in the Speaking Test | An asterisk (*) in the Speaking test indicates that the audio was not of sufficient quality to enable an accurate assessment of the response and to provide a result. Candidates are advised to contact their Linguaskill centre to arrange a re-sit. |
| *Asterisk in the Reading and/or Listening Test | An asterisk (*) in the Reading and/or Listening test indicates that not enough questions were answered within the time limit for a score/result to be determined. |
Linguaskill and Linguaskill Business provide a result for each module. An average score is calculated from the modules taken on each test date and the modules which comprise My Best Score, where applicable.
Please note that the average score calculation and My Best Score will not include the following statuses:
- Below B1
- *Asterisk
- Pending
- Disqualified.
Pending or Disqualified statuses will prevent results from the same test day being shared to the Results Verification Service or appearing in My Best Score.
A candidate can re-sit any module for Linguaskill again to try for a better result. This means that candidates don’t have to practice all four skills again to ensure they pass the test. Instead, they can concentrate solely on improving the skills they need. They can do this immediately, or after having studied further.
Where a candidate retakes any Linguaskill or Linguaskill Business modules, and they achieve higher scores, these will automatically appear in My Best Score, a unique Linguaskill feature that enables candidates to choose the best score achieved.
For the result of the re-sit to be linked to the original test, it must be taken with the same login. It's also necessary for the candidate to sit the components under the same Institution ID/centre number (e.g. GB100).
Test results are available via the Cambridge English Test Portal, Metrica indefinitely. Candidates should check with the appropriate Recognising Organisation for how long they accept results.
To find out how a candidate can generate their Linguaskill certificate and/or share their results with a Recognising Organisation see this support site artice:
