What are Sessions?
In the Cambridge English Test Portal, tests are arranged into Sessions. A session will be for one particular test and contains the details of the candidates who have been entered for that test.
You will need to create a session in order to make entries and run tests. Each session is for one test type only, I.e Reading and Listening or Writing or Speaking. If you wish to enter candidates for all skills, you will need to create a separate session for each test.
If you set up any Clients they will also be able to create sessions and administer tests using the test credits that you have allocated to them.
You will need to create separate Sessions for Linguaskill General and Linguaskill Business candidates.
Session and Entry Deadlines
For the Reading and Listening, and Writing tests you can create a session at any time, immediately add entries, and run the test.
For the Speaking test, you need to create the session and add the entries at least 2 days in advance of the start date. You should ensure the Start Date is at least 2 days 1 hour away to allow an hour to add entries to the session.
Once the session is less than 2 days away, you will no longer be able to add entries to it.
We recommend creating Speaking sessions 3 days before the test to give you plenty of time to add entries.
If you are adding over 500 entries to a Speaking session, please create the session and add the entries at least 5 days in advance of the start date. Failure to do this may result in a delay releasing the Speaking results for these candidates.
Speaking sessions run for two days, so the End Date will automatically populate with the date and time 48 hours from the Start Date. After the 2 day window, the candidates will not be able to access the test.

How to add a session:
1. Log into the Cambridge English Test Portal
2. Click Sessions
3. Click Add Session
4. Complete the Basic Settings, ensuring the correct details are selected
For Speaking sessions, ensure the Start Date is at least 5 days 1 hour away to allow you an hour to add entries to the session. Once the session is less than 5 days away, you will no longer be able to add entries.
5. Complete the Advanced Settings and click Create Session
6. The session will now appear in the session list and is ready to use.
